Saturday October 4 Fall Festival at The Lands at Hillside Farms Come celebrate the arrival of the harvest and cooler weather with family and friends at The Lands at Hillside Farms. This day-long event features hayrides, tours, farm animals, homemade food, kids activities, and more. Admission is free. Parking is $5 per car. More Info... Friday Oct 10 Movies on the Lawn Grab your blanket/chairs and maybe your kids and join us for a free Horror Movie Fest on the lawn across from our barns--we'll be showing three Halloween-themed movies, starting with kid-friendly ones and getting more serious as the night goes on. Refreshments will be available for purchase in our Dairy Store. The movie will begin at dusk. October 11th through 19th 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest Help The Lands pick the winner of our annual scarecrow contest---visit the farm and vote for your favorite scarecrow. Groups, individuals and organizations wanting to participate in this contest should call The Lands at 570-696-4500 by October 5 to enroll in this event. Fee is $10 per scarecrow entry. Saturday Oct 18 Old McDonald's Farm IT'S PUMPKIN TIME! Join us for our final Old McDonald's Farm of the year and take a hayride to our pumpkin patch, select your favorite pumpkin, decorate it at the farm, and enjoy Halloween/harvest storytime. Recommended for ages 3-5, Time: 10am - Noon Cost: $15 one child with one parent for non-members, and $10 one child with one parent for members, $5 each additional child. Saturday Nov 8 Cheesemaking Recommended for children 7 and up, time: 10am-noon, cost $10 per child. Sample the varieties of cheese sold at The Lands at Hillside Farms and learn what makes cheeses taste/look/feel different. Children (and parents) will then learn how to make their own farmer's cheese to sample and take home. Please call 696-4500 for reservations, space is limited. November 22 & 23, 2008 'Christmas at The Cottage' You are cordially invited to attend an extraordinary sale of fine Victorian Reproductions and Christmas bits and pieces that will delight your sights and senses. A light tea will be served and tour of The Cottage will usher in an elegant Christmas, celebrated in a truly magnificent Victorian Cottage. $10.00. Time: Noon - 5:00 PM December 5, 2008 'Greenhouse Lighting' Usher in the holiday season by viewing our glorious, lighted, Victorian Greenhouses and vote on your favorite tree dressed in holiday splendor; visit our Christmas Shoppe for charming Christmas gifts; pick out your live Christmas tree, and select a gorgeous poinsettia and evergreen wreath for your holiday decorating.
